Audeze headphones, unlike the more 'classic' headphones, do not work with dynamic drivers but with planar-magnetic drivers. By mounting magnets with a membrane in between in the ear cups, the transients (peaks) can be reproduced much more accurately by this principle and you therefore get a much more precise sound image.
Because these work with magnets, they are also a lot heavier and larger than the normal standard telephone, but due to the excellent cushions on Audeze's they remain extremely comfortable to wear for a long time.

These headphones are extremely suitable for mixing and mastering due to their tuning and extremely accurate transient response, something that was considered impossible until a few years ago!
